The size A5 is in International Standard (ISO) of 148.5x210mm (5.85 inches x 8.27 inches). The other sizes in the ISO series, and an explanation, is available here.
An A5 sheet of paper will fit comfortably into a C6 envelope, for office use. For greetings card use a slightly smaller envelope makes for a neater fit. These are available for purchase from High View, and are fully described here, together with information about obtaining a sample.
